Looking for a recommendation in the sub 170$ price range for 16gb from anyone with ryzen 2 and this exact motherboard. I would like to know with 100% certainty it will work and run at 3,000mhz right away.

Bought geil evo spear, but ended up not being the amd edition and runs at 2133. I would love to swap for this ram, but no sellers have it in ddr4 3000 available, closest is 2.

Not all Ryzen boards like this memory and same goes for Hynix IC chips that are most likely used on these Geil's.

Not to say that ram with Hynix chips will never run at rated speeds, they usually need more manual bios tweaking as appose to ram using Samsung. Settings like Dram voltage, Timings and sometimes adjusting ProcODT ohms to 40 sometimes helps if setting XMP alone doesn't work. Make sure your bios has the latest revision also which may address memory compatibility issues.

Here's a list of some of the memory modules using Samsung, Micron and Hynix. Especially for Ryzen, despite Bios updates, for best results go with Samsung.

There are also loads of overclocking guides for Ryzen memory on Youtube which may help.

Thanks.. I was doing some research into Samsung b die and they mentioned it's the best for ryzen, but it's also in the 200$+ range. I hear their e die is the next best thing for ryzen in the 170$ and below range..

Think the giel I have uses micron. The reviews are amazing for this ram, so much that I have been he's you considering going with 2400 instead of 3k.. paid 139$ and wouldn't mind spending up to 30$ more for Samsung though. You also mention Samsung, I see a lot of Samsung pop up when looking into this, perhaps it's worth the extra $$

Oh, that's the review that sold me on going with it.

Yea those Geil memory, techpowerup reckons they're using Hynix but don't think they're 100% sure.

3rd paragraph

it seems that these sticks are made with Hynix memory

Dual rank is also faster than single rank, so 2933 dual rank is faster than 3200MHz single rank. It is also more difficult for dual rank memory to reach higher speeds.

Samsung memory is worth getting
