So I recently bought 3200mhz corsair vengeance pro ddr4, I installed it on my asus z370-g WiFi motherboard and used the xmp profile in the bios. Before using the corsair ram I had 3000mhz ram installed. I had heard that 3200mhz was the sweet spot with Intel, but I’m seeing worse results in cinebench. Also, asus ai suite 3 is saying that the ram is running at 3192mhz. CPU’s is saying 3200 MHz, with the performance decrease, what am I doing wrong? I have an i5 8600k indtalled and it is overclocked to 5ghz with a stable voltage of 1.375. I also have a 750 watt gold rated PSU. I was getting roughly 1170 points in cinebench with the 3000mhz ram and now I’m getting 1155 with the 3200mhz ram. Are Matx motherboards hampered by ram higher than 3000 MHz?

With higher frequency, most of the time you'd get higher latencies which can lower the performance. Btw. 15 points in CB is well within statistical error and may not mean anything. Run it 3 - 5 times consecutively at each setting and get an average.

A quick google search of "3200mhz corsair vengeance pro ddr4" pulls up that these sticks should be running at a CL16. If your 3000Mhz sticks are running at a CL15 it virtually the same speed, that is why you are seeing almost no difference between the two.

3200Mhz/CL16 is 200
3000Mhz/CL15 is 200
