So i m currently using an r5 1600 @stock speeds, stock cooler & i have paired it up with a gtx 970.

I just wanted to know Is it okay to upgrade my gpu to 1080ti without having huge bottlenecks?

Also
I can also overclock my cpu if it will help with the answer.

Solution
It should hold up, but will have some bottlenecking. Here is a 1080 comparison and you can see some games get 20 to 30% less fps, but it's still performing very well. If you go higher than 1080p there is almost no bottleneck.

You really should get a better cooler. You may wa t to look into overclocking, it's simple with these.

If you are only playing in 1080p you m8ght want to check the 1070ti benchmarks and see how far it varies from a 1080ti. For example if a 1080ti reaches 150fps in game X with a 8700k and with a 1600 you hit 120fps, maybe a 1070ti hits 120fps with the 1600.. but if you are going higher than 1080 it seems like it should hold up well enough...
If you don't have over 60Hz 1440P screen, pretty much pointless for the simple reason that your screen will then be the limiting factor.
970 should be able to do 1440P at 60FPS or close to that in most games. If your screen is 1080P? even less sensible.

And hopefully pricing situation where you are is better than here for 1080Ti's.
they cost here more than 2080's and are out of stock in most places.

I have a 144hz 1080p screen, and i am gonna focus on competitive gameplay so i would really benifit with 144+fps rather than higher resolution gameplay.

I stream as well using my cpu , i was planning on moving the stream-load from my cpu to my gpu when i'll switch to 1080ti.
Currently my rig provides 144fps+ in fortnite low settings but it does struggle quite a few times going to lows of 60-70fps . In future i plan on moving to blackout which is even more graphic intensive

And talking about price, i have options of asus strix gtx 1080ti or Zotac amp 2080. Almost similar pricing of both 1080ti being very slightly cheaper.(7%)

Although i appreciate u trying to help me with your advise.
I only need to know whether a slightly overlocked R5 1600 can take use of 1080ti's power. Or maybe a 2080.

Had some free time and did some searching. It's tough to find better comparisons.. at 1080p a gtx1080 on tomb raider pulls in max 140fps and thr 1600 hits 112.. the 1080ti same game has max 170fps and the 1600 hits 130..

This is a rough comparison, not even sure the settings are 100% the same, but in this one it's probably better to just have a 1070ti for that cpu with a difference of 28fps vs 40fps when using the best cpu available. Also the second one used newer cpu for the max fps..

You can see though like I mentioned once the resolution goes up the difference is much smaller
