PC Won't Post With Dual Channel Memory

I have posted this thread before, but never got a real answer. I upgraded my build to Coffee Lake a few months ago, I previously had a Haswell CPU, so I had to upgrade the Mobo, and ram, while installing the memory, I thought I had read that you had to install the dimms side by side to get dual channel speeds, which struck me as odd. A few months later, I was reading the installation guide again, and realized that it DID in fact say to configure them in ever other slot. I immediately wanted to fix this. However, when I configured the dimms correctly, the PC wouldn't post. I tested the dimms individually, and they both function properly, and when I go into the BIOS it says that there are 16gbs of memory. So I figured it was some sort of manufacturer issue. I was wondering if I could get a refund on the memory modules this late into buying them for a defect. Does anyone know if that's possible? Thanks

Maybe one of these?

GIGABYTE B360 AORUS Gaming 3 WIFI
GIGABYTE Z370 AORUS GAMING WIFI

Crucial Ballistix Sport is either DDR2 or DDR3, so that can't be right.

Maybe Ballistix Sport LT DDR4? There are 12 different models in three colors of 2 x 8GB kits and 13 different 8GB modules sold as singles.

Or maybe it's Ballistix Sport AT?

You need to give more info on your hardware. Tell us what motherboard, memory etc. You also need to clarify what you mean by post. If you can get into the bios and see how much memory is recognized that sort of implies that you posted. Did you get any errors? Also most coffee lake motherboards require you to put memory in specific spots depending on how many memory modules you are using. It is not just every other slot. For example on my motherboard I need to use the 2nd slot for 1 dimm, the 2nd and 4th for 2 dimms etc. Also if it is a memory compatibility issue a bios update might help.

I have a Gigabyte Gaming Wifi, and Ballistix Sport 2x8 gb sticks, the specs should be listed whenever I post something.
