I currently have a R9 380 4GB GPU, have had it for roughly 2 1/2 - 3 years as of now. I am looking at upgrading it, however I am perplexed on whether to upgrade to a GTX 1080ti or RTX 2080. I have done research on this topic and the benchmarks come out to be roughly the same, give or take 5 - 10 % FPS difference on newer and older games alike. I intend to keep this card for roughly the same amount of time that I kept my 380. In terms of gaming I currently sit at Mid to High settings 1080p and will be upgrading to 4k in the near future. Any help would be appreciated!

Now if I was to proceed and buy the RTX I was looking into the Founder's edition for $799 at Best Buy.

My price range is roughly $800, not including tax and shipping.

Current PC Specs -

Ryzen 2700x
AB350 Gaming 3 Motherboard
R9 380 4GB
16GB DDR4 Patriot RAM
1080p Monitor (Upgrading Soon to 4k)

As you said yourself these two cards tend to trade blows at this time. I imagine with time the 2080 will start outperforming the 1080ti consistently as drivers mature and if Nvidia is able to push its new technologies to newer titles as well. The big caviat though is the price-can you justify the additional cost of the 2080 over the 1080ti?
