Are my VRM temps high or am I getting bad sensor readings?

I just built my first rig a few days ago and have been testing the system out.

I'm running a Ryzen 2200G, B450M-Pro4 board, Cryorig M9a CPU cooler, 8GB RAM (2x4), 4x120mm fans (2 front intake, 1 rear + 1 top exhaust)

I've used HWInfo64 and Aida64 stability tests (~10-15 minutes intervals) and everything seems stable. Idles CPU temps are ~27-29 C, with peak temps hitting ~55-57 C.

The issue is when I am watching the Aida64 test screen whether at idle before testing or after running it for a bit, the VRM temps always show 99 C. Is this high or concerning?

Sorry if this question may seem dumb, I'm still new to most of this.

To cross reference what you're seeing, it's good practice to see if the VRM's are actually at that temp by having a touch on the VRM heatsink to corroborate that finding. You forgot to mention the make and model of your case but on paper the airflow looks alright. It might be a different story when you mention the case's make and model. Given your cooler is tower style, there isn't much air going under the heatsink towards the VRM area.

Side note, make sure you're on the latest BIOS update for your motherboard.

I updated the BIOS first thing to the most recent version. The case by the way is a Thermaltake Versa H18-TG, apologies for not including originally.

So ssentially, just take the glass panel off and poke the VRM heatsinks?

The probability that your VRMs are actually that hot is very low, or it would start melting plastic pieces around your motherboard. If a sensor does in fact break, it is very common to show either 99C or 127C constantly, so the sensor is probably just broken, nothing to worry about.
 
Especially since it reads '99C' even when there's no load it could be the sensor you're looking at is simply mis-labled in the monitoring application. Look for another sensor reading that follows processor load, possibly lagging it somewhat since it has a big passive heatsink for cooling, and reports a temperature more reasonable for a VRM.

You can also check the forum on Martin's website for HWInfo64, he's very good about providing feedback on things like incorrect sensor readings and would probably add a fix to the next beta update (which come very frequently) if he finds a problem.

Since this is a 'new-build' I assume it's a new motherboard... if the sensor indeed is broken then I'd try to exchange it for one that works.
