Hi everyone, recently i bought gtx 1060 to replace my old hd 7970. But i cannot boot with efi compatible rom enable, stuck with error code b2 all the time. With my old card everything is fine. My bios is already the latest p2.20 which release in 2012. There is no more bios update after that although the sister board asrock p67 pro3 have more recent bios update also some beta bios than mine at asrock website bios.download section, so im wondering can i use the bios file from it to update my board because it seems that the board is nearly the same minus the expansion slot configuration? Any one have an idea how to resolve this problem? Thanks for any help.

My syetem component are,

i5 3570k
8gb 1600mhz ddr3
2x hdd
700w psu
Gtx 1060 (new card)
Asrock p67 pro3 se mobo.

That board should have no problem booting with any new card, even with an early BIOS. Besides that, most new cards are UEFI/legacy compatible. I suspect another issue. Did you ever try the card before updating the BIOS?
When you flash the BIOS, it will revert to default settings. Maybe you had made some changes in the past that need to be re-done.

But getting the B2 error code would lead me to wonder if the card was DOA. Or not seated well. Was it bought new or used?

I have tested the graphic card (both new gtx1060 & old hd7970) in my wife pc which is older socket 775 chipset intel desktop board with efi boot enable and its working, just with my board its (gtx1060) not working unless change to legacy rom, but when switch back to efi compatible rom it stuck splash screen with b2 error and I need to clear cmos in order to boot again and enter bios. Anyway the bios I updated long time ago which at that time im using the hd7970. I read at asrock website that they have newer bios update to get p67 pro3 board working in uefi booting with newer card but sadly there is none for p67 pro 3 se version, so I wonder is it possible to flash the p67 pro3 bios latest version p3.30 or beta p3.25/3.40 to p67 pro3 se version board since the spec seems the same just minus the pci/pcie slot difference.

Not a wise idea. They're not what I would call "sister boards". Just the fact that one board has legacy PCI slots and the other doesn't is an indication the firmware code would be different. Besides, I doubt the BIOS update program will allow the flash to continue.

Have you had the opportunity to try any other modern (UEFI) card in that board? I suspect some other issue, but I can't come up with an answer. I have had several GTX 1060s and they all worked in that era boards. In fact, I've never had a single (new) Nvidia card that hasn't worked in even the oldest board I've got on the shelves.
