Best graphics card for me?

Hi, first post here so hope I'm following the format ok.

I'm in need of a new gpu capable of running the target game: rainbow 6 siege. My budget is about £50 so I'm aware I'll be looking at the second hand market. I've been doing some looking around and it seems like the r7 370 at cex for £45 is the best bet. Please let me know if this is a fair conclusion or if theres other cards I should consider.

Looking for a constant 60fps on at least medium if possible.
Thanks in advance for the replies!! :)

I'm not sure if you know this but AMD and Nvidia sometimes rebrand videocards with new names. What this means to you is once you've identified a videocard as a possible choice, ALL the variants of that card will give you more or less the same performance. So then you can pick the one that costs less.

The 370 is actually an HD 7850, which became the 270, which became the 370. The HD 7870 became the 270x then the 370x. The HD 7950/7970 were one step above that. It is true that each rebrand the card was clocked a bit faster, so if that's important to you then get the 370.

Also, older gaming cards tend to use more power, be sure you have the power supply for the card. Your CPU has a lot to do with it as well. What I'd do is look around...

What I'd do is look around for information, like on Youtube, of what kind of performance RSS players are getting with an HD 7850. That should show you what to expect.

Welcome!!

What are your current system specs? No sense picking up a disproportionately strong GPU, if your base platform is going to hold you back.

50quid is a tough budget to work with, but assuming power draw isn't a huge concern, looking back to Nvidia's 600 or 500 series can net you pretty sweet price to performance

For example, a GTX680:

Roughly comparable to a modern 1050TI, at the expense of near 3x TDP (~200W vs 75W on a 1050TI).

Hi, my current specs are i5 2500K (at stock 3.3GHz), 8GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR3, my only issue was with the GTS450 GPU I had in. I had bought a Corsair VS550 PSU with two 6+2 pin PCIe connectors supplied (picked up from ebay for only £18).

I have just today purchased the XFX 7870 GHz edition double dissipation ghost 2GB GPU for £40, which I hope will live up to play my games on medium.

Thanks very much for the reply

Hi, thanks for the reply;
very useful information, according to your comparison I've come better off with the 7870 that I've bought today for £40.
I've spent a good bit time looking about and I think I've made the right choice.
Cheers.
