Hi,
I have an Alienware 15 R2 Laptop. Its around 2 years 8 months old. It worked perfectly till last month. Now My charger pin gets really hot while playing games.(Only when playing games) And then the Laptop shuts down automatically and the pin is so hot that its untouchable. It some times take 10-15 mins to shutdown and sometimes around an hour to shutdown. Its become more frequent these days. One thing is my laptop battery is failed and needs to be replaced and I am planning on replacing it soon. But I dont think its the battery issue because the laptop worked fine without battery for almost 6-7 months till now.
Any Help is appreciated!!!

If its on warranty i dont actually see why not.
Also, you can tell them to check...

i wouldnt actually keep using that laptop for now...
You can actually harm it severally when it comes to Power Supply related stuff.
For what it comes to my mind it may be 2 things:
1- The Laptop Draws more power than what it really needs for some reason and that Overcharges the pin of the charger.
2- The Charger is defective and keeps sending current from the pin non-stop.

I would first replace the charger and if this problem keeps up i would take it to specialist that revises it and replace the faulty components that are causing this issue.

I have Warranty till Jan 2019. Do you think I should contact Dell and ask for adapter replacement?

If its on warranty i dont actually see why not.
Also, you can tell them to check the whole PC integrity and check if the issue is caused by the adapter or any other component that could be drawing the additional power from the adapter causing to overchage it.
