MSI 970 Gaming with ram issues D:

I've had my pc for about 4 years, it's spec ed as follows:
MSI 970 Gaming Board
AMD FX 6350 Black not OCed
AMD R9 290
2x4gb Kingston Hyperx Beast
TSXFx 550 - 80 plus

It served me fine for those 4 years however, recently I saw the ram pinned at 98% usage when playing certain games.

So I went on eBay and picked up some nearly new sticks of the same Hyperx Beast ram.

They arrived today and I went to install them in the remaining 2 slots but then the PC didn't prompt. I swapped my old ram for the new stuff in slot 1 and 3 like I had it before and it worked fine, picked up all 8gb. So I added the old stuff back in 2 and 4 then no prompt. I took out stick 2 and it booted and picked up all 12gb. Then I tried swapping them around more and now I can't get it to boot at all.

I've tried just putting in 1 stick of the new and old ram in slot 1 and then in slot 3 but I can't get it to turn on.

I get fan spin and the hard drive spins, if I don't have any ram it beeps but if I do, it won't prompt but doesn't beep.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the two pairs of RAM aren't matching in specs (Speed, CAS latency etc.), then that can happen. You need RAM with the exact same specs to get a higher chance of it working. The highest chance of normal functionality is when you only install the RAM that came within one set.
