Keep old case or use new case? Thoughts on system build.

I have an 10+ year old computer. I'm running a Intel i7 920, 2.66mhz, 12 gb ram, GTX 980, Intel 100GB SSD, 2xRaptor 15000 in Raid 0, Hitachi 500gb HDD, 650 watt psu, sitting in a Cosmos S Tower. This was a very good machine at the time though not cutting edge.

I originally bought the system from CyberpowerPC and haven't had a single problem with the system in 10 years. Other than low memory, it originally came with 6GB and a Nvidia GTX 295 video card the system has served me well.

Recently I've started to get nothing but BSOD with "Kernal Security Check Failures". One of the Fans on the CPU Cooler have frozen though it hasn't cause any issues with heat yet.

I'm at the point where I'm ready to upgrade and thinking about keeping the CM Cosmos S case and replacing everything else.

Questions
1) Other than the case being slightly beat up and a little ugly is there any compelling reason to upgrade the case other than aesthetics?

2) This is the build I'm considering buying through Newegg.
- Intel (8th Gen) Core i5 - 8600k
- ASUS ROG Strix Z370 - E Gaming
- MSI GeForce GTX 1080 DUKE 8G
- Adata XPG SX8200 PCIe NVMe 960GB
- Seagate Barracuda 2TB, 7200 rpm , 64MB Cache
- G.Skill TridentZ RGB - (2x8gb), DDR4 3600
- Seasonic Focus Plus, 750W 80+ Platinum, (Seasonic SSR-750PX)
- Not decided on CPU Cooler but leaning towards Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (I'm limited in my current case to 154MM height due to the 230MM Side Fan)

3) Purchase a system from CyberpowerPC or iBuypower. I've had good luck in the past and with CyberpowerPC and with the current sale I can get a system very close to above for about $100-150 more than building on my own...WITH a Case - be Quiet Dark 600 and a Warranty.

Love any input or thoughts...

1) If the case does what you want it to do, then other than aesthetics there isn't any reason to swap out. That said, right off the bat by keeping that tower you won't be able to take advantage of front header USB 3.0 ports on the new motherboard.

2) Off the cuff, decent looking build. Two thoughts on it.
A) research out if the mobo/ram combo work well. High speed RAM can get picky about which boards it likes to run with at full speed.

B) Ditch the 212 Evo. It's too tall at 159mm if your max height is 154mm. I'd look at something like the Cryorig H7. The H7 cooles better than the Evo, has a smaller height at 145mm and you won't have any RAM clearance issues since it doesn't overlap any channels.

3) If you're not comfortable with being your own tech support, then there's nothing wrong going with a prebuilt and a warranty. If you'd prefer to tinker and spend that extra 100 or so at upgrading to the upcomming new 9th gen CPUS then go that route.

I didn't consider the issue with USB 3.0 port. I have a lot of 5.25 bays available in the front of the case that perhaps I could put a USB port 5.25 bay in the front.

The Cryorig H7 looks like a great option and I've replaced the 212 Evo in my build list.

I'll make sure the mobo/ram work together.

I really appreciate the input!
