I'm using the Gigabyte GA 970A DS3P FX and I'm r trying to upgrade my cpu from AMD fx 4170 to amd fx 8350 which I've checked, the are compatible. I'm aware that my bios needs an upgrade but I'm unsure how to. After the cpu change, will I go straight into the bios and change something. I'm no sure. Please help

Looking at the CPU Support List for that motherboard, the FX-8350 processor is supported by the first BIOS version, F1, as is the FX-4170. No BIOS upgrade is necessary.

However, in answer to your question, you would need to first update the BIOS using your current processor to the new BIOS version. How to update the BIOS depends on the motherboard manufacturer as different manufacturers provide different tools to do so. Once successfully updated, you would then install the new processor.
