looking to upgrade my mobo and cpu to asus rog maximus x hero and I7 8700K

my specs are:
16gb ddr4 ram
rx 480 gpu
samsung 850 evo 250gb ssd
evga 500b1 500w psu
i5 6600 w/ stock intel cpu cooler

is there any other components i must buy along with the new mobo and cpu too get a stable 5.0ghz overclock and if so can you recommend best option? thanks

Should be all good, just get a better cooler and look at the airflow in your case to find the optimal setup.
Make sure you check your case size so you get a cooler that will fit.

Right now, the 8700k goes for 400 bucks. The 8086k is retailing at 425 bucks which is imo worth it. Ez 5.0ghz oc.

Sounds like a nice system do you need a I7? recently Frys had I5 8600K for $239 Maximus Hero X on my daughters new build. Everything went pretty much ok but we had couple of driver and Asus utility issues.

1. The light control from the Asus Aurora was very flaky. I heard if you load more recent Aurora drivers it helps but I had
issues with
2. Asus error messages with driver not being compatible with Win 10 64 bit.
3. Audio driver conflict between Realtek and Microsoft audio driver

well there is no stock intel cpu cooler for the 8700k , so you will have to buy somthing
