hi there, im on the cusp of buying a new system and realised that the price for intel cpu's is going up and the 8600k is now over £300. Is the 2600/2600x a good alternative from amd as their prices are now much more ideal?

im mainly into gaming, never really got into streaming/editing and i normally play title like GTA. Witcher, Assasins creed and monster hunter.

i currently play in 1920x1080 but plan to bump up to 1440p and the new system will have a gtx 1080

If you are only gaming the 8600k is better... for now... If you start streaming and gaming the 2600 gains the edge or heavy multitasking. If games start making better use of the extra cores / threads then the 2600 could take the lead, but who knows when or if this happens, can't bank on it.

It depends on what else your doing and how much your saving. In the u.s it's a 100$ price difference. What fps are you playing at? Let's say your game can get max 150fps, but your display is 120hz so you play at 120, on get ryzen for sure. If you are often capping the frame rate even a little I would definitely save the money and get ryzen because that gap suddenly doesn't have the same impact.
