I was wondering if the Kraken x72 was better than or worse than the Corsair H150i in terms of performance and noise. Also, do the Corsair performance fans (the ones with white/red/blue rings) fit the Nzxt Kraken x72 and are they compatible with this cooler? Ex. Are the Corsair Af 120 performance fans compatible with the Nzxt Kraken x72? Price does not matter. Which cooler is more powerful and quieter under heavy loads?

More importantly, which has the better software framework?

The X72 has better overall, full load performance. The H150i has a slightly better noise profile and lower overall noise levels.

The NZXT CAM software on the other hand is a nightmare of rarely working wonder. I've been using various CAM versions since it's inception with Hue, Hue+, Grid, Grid+, Grid+v2 and various coolers and while it mostly works ok some of the time, there have been a LOT of problems with it AND maybe the biggest problem of all is the well known fact that it has a significant CPU and memory footprint due to the fact of it's information gathering phone home practices which have been well documented on both Reddit and the CAM forums.

Corsair had a lot of troubles with it's Link software in the beginning but those issues and any subsequent flakiness have pretty much all been worked out. I haven't heard any complaints or seen any issues with Corsair Link based hardware in a long time. And to be honest, I'm not a fan of Corsair, and I like NZXT products, but having good hardware is practically a moot point when your software is as quirky and riddled with privacy problems like CAM is.

In all reality, either of these will work great, if you don't mind the occasional CAM bugs which tend to happen every time there is an update to the software and then last a while until the next update, which tends to introduct new problems but resolves the old ones. Sometimes. LOL.

Personally, I don't think I'd choose either of those units.

The actual cooler is not too much difference in performance (though personally I think a 360 is overkill for just a CPU I would only go for 360mm rads in a custom loop where there is a single water cooled GPU in the same loop). Corsair has better fans in the box for quieter operation (don't know much about performance of NZXT fans but I do know that their stock fans look nicer as they are plain black and not black with silver blades like the stock Corsair fans though people getting a CPU cooler as high end as that would most likely be expecting to buy custom fans). If you choose the brand in terms of RGB lighting Corsair has the best if not some of the best RGB fans on the market and on top of that they have RGB RAM and RGB peripherals which you cannot get from NZXT (they only sell AIO coolers/fans as well as cases and RGB lighting but more recently I have seen a motherboard and PSU's from them). Also Corsair are going to be releasing custom water cooling GPU and CPU blocks soon (by the end of the year most likely as for at least a month they have had ads on their websites homepage regarding custom loops and when clicking the link it says coming soon at the bottom of the page).

Oh yes forgot to talk about software but I really like Corsair iCUE as it works well for me (my only problem which I ever had was patched in an update where LL series fans would not be controllable if the PC woke from sleep or if you powered on the system and had to restart the system after powering it on to get the LL RGB fans to be controllable in software) with all Corsair brand RGB Peripherals, CPU coolers, RGB fans, RGB strips, case LED's, RGB RAM and even non RGB Products that are recent and support software control such as certain PSU models or fan speed controls as well as temperature monitoring for your CPU/GPU and the lighting can be synchronised across every iCUE supported Corsair RGB products
