hey guys so I am currently rocking a very old cpu the Pentium g4400 and I would like to upgrade it a newish but budget cpu that will be able to handle 720p 60fps streaming max price I will go is 150 british pounds or 170 british pounds to convert to ryzen motherboard and cpu that will handle streaming aswell

The main element to get FPS is the GPU, the CPU is auxiliary so that the GPU can realize its full potential and also has a role in streaming. The best CPU in the world does not push the GPU beyond its potential.

The FPS number depends on each game. Your GPU in some games will get 60 and in others possibly not. What is certain is that your current processor is weak for the GPU and is limiting it.

You can put a sixth generation Intel or a seventh generation Intel without changing the motherboard (although this will surely require upgrading the bios of your motherboard). The minimum that I would advise would be an I5-6400 (6th) or an I5-7400 (7th).

The problem is that both are overpriced for what they give (even in the second-hand market) and exceed their budget.

If you go to Ryzen, you must change the motherboard which can give you problems with your windows license (although there are cases in which you can transfer it).

It is possible that if you get a cheap B350 motherboard you can access the cheaper Ryzen. Since you want to do streaming I would recommend you from the Ryzen 5 1400 that does not have a high price and has 4 cores and 8 threads

Going to a Ryzen based system also requires new DDR4 RAM.
And a new GPU
And possibly a better PSU.
