Weird sound started coming from CPU cooler? (VIDEO)

So I took my side panel of my PC yesterday to put in a Bluetooth USB cord and when I turned my PC back on, the fan was considerably louder and there is now a weird sound coming from the CPU cooler. I put the pc on its side when I put in the cord if that helps. Any ideas?

The cord I installed is all the way at the bottom of the MOBO. Also, the sound doesn't happen all the time, just randomly starts so surely can't be something touching it otherwise it would happen 24/7? I've checked around it and nothing is touching it

Does it have a sticker on the face of the fan? It seems like it is out of balance. The randomness will probably be the change of speeds when cooling. See if you can remove the sticker. Also check to make sure all the corners are screwed down. If it dosnt help the bearings may be going bad cheap enough fix.

I removed the sticker and it didn’t do anything. I’d be surprised if it was the bearings as it’s only a week old? I took the fan off and cleaned it but no difference

Its the sound of something vibrating and catching another surface. Probably the fan housing on the CPU cooler itself. Should be fairly easy to localise by holding the fan housing to see if it stops...Might need to be adjusted as it could have slipped position a bit.

Ok you said you put the pc on its side is the fan at an angle or laying flat? Inspect the blades see if there is any chiping or warping. I would try to flip the fan over the opposite side of the way you did before to see maybe if the bearings came loose when you put it on its side. Something in the mounting may have been loosened by gravity when you placed the pc on its side. Also do you have rubber mounts between the screws for damping?

Okay, the rattling doesn’t seem to be very noticeable anymore (if it’s still there at all). I took the fan off and swapped it around. The fan is laying flat and there doesn’t seem to be any chipping at all. I don’t have rubber mounts between the screws, are they worth installing? Also, am I able to take the fan off and install a new one from a different brand such as Noctua or would I have to entirely replace the heatsink if I wanted to change the fan?
