Looking for a good alternative for Z77 mobo

Let's get down to it. I'm looking for a board that works with the i7 3770 CPU and 16GB (2x8) DDR3 1600Mhz RAM. Now, people have recommended the Z77 for me before, but that thing is way to expensive... Is there a cheaper variant? I found a couple H61m motherboards for a good price but
people say there may be some issues with updating the bios or something before using Ivy Bridge CPUs. I've never really worked with the bios that much, and don't know if that would be a huge problem or something. Any help, or mobo suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks for the chart. I think I'll be choosing the B75 as I've found a good price for a used one. Really as long as the parts I mentioned above fit, it's good.

That's the trick though. You'll need to take into consideration all your parts, you'll not want a motherboard with just 1x system fan header if you have multiple case fans, and some cases have a usb3.0 connector for the front USB, so if you have a add on usb3.0 item like a all-in-one card reader, you'll be stuck. Every lga1155 mobo will fit the basic requirements of ram, cpu, drives, it's all the extras needed that ppl invariably miss.

OK, first of all, let me make this clear: I bought the PC already built at a time when I didn't know much about PC's so I don't even know what I have. I know about the GPU CPU RAM and that kind of stuff, but the extras you mentioned... no idea.
I now have 2 case fans, but I really only need one, the PC never went above 60 degrees with just one and I only added another one because of rgb lighting to be honest. All the USB 3.0 ports i have come from my mobo and there are no ports on the front, just 2 usb 2.0 ports. I have headset and microphone jacks at the front but those don't work at all. If it helps, I now have the Gigabyte F2A68HM-S1 mobo.

I found an ASRock B75M-GL for $77. Would it be good for me?
