Hi,

I'm planning to upgrade my pc and I already bought these parts.


  • Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3000 MHz
    Asus Prime Z370-A

I pre-ordered the cpu i7 8700k from amazon and it will be shipped at the end of this month.
I read that intel will release Z390 chip tomorrow.

My question is: Is it worth it to cancel my pre-order and return the motherboard ?

I'm using my pc for gaming and game development and my current build is i5 2500k, ram 16 gb DDR3 and GTX 1070 8gb

The z390 chipsets are for Intels 9th gen. processor support capability, specially the 8 core CPUs along with current gen. compatibility. So, they will be priced significantly higher for higher TDP and VRM support.
For gaming, there is not much there to be gained. For game development, well maybe. Depends on what kind of dev. you are. For basic stuff, the 8700k is fine. For high end rendering and rasterization you might need one of those octacores.

I'm programmer, so i don't do any rendering expect to run the game engine to test the game play.
