Yep, i'm trying to download team fortress 2 on my pc and there's a "slight" problem. My C and H drive's (H is external hdd) disk usage is 100, my steams disk usage on resource manager is around 700 kb, in steam around 550 kb/s. Also my c drive is at 100 for some weird reason, that explains the bsods (i think). It happened right after i got the "service pack 2" for my windows.
My os is a Windows 7 Ultimate x64. And yes it worked just fine back at sp1 and at the sp2 32-bit.

old network drivers can throw errors that cause virus scanners to slow down, and streaming software to slow down or get blocked. see if there is a update to the network driver.

also check for updated sata drivers from your motherboard vendors website.

Your C drive being at 100% and BSoD makes me think of a failing hard drive. Check the Event Viewer and see if there are any errors/warning for "disk". I had a system a bit ago that was at 100% and turned out the hard drive was failing.

The rest could be a coincidence. However it wont hurt to try newer drivers however it is not a guaranteed fix.

"There is no such thing as SP2 for windows 7.
Or did you mean Convenience Rollup Update KB3125574 ?

If your windows is 64bit, then you had to install 64bit version of KB3125574 (not 32bit)."

YeS i meant the convinience update pack and yes it is x64 update

Could the issue for blue screens be the fact, that the sata data wire comes loose from the hdd at some times since it doesn't do that anymore, i put some tape between the wire and the hdd sata clip, works ok for now

Oh yeah and my hdd write speed is around 20 mb per second, max write speed i had on steam was around 13 mb per second, and it still is when i copy stuff to the drive

There are no clips in the sata wire. that has to be it, i put some insulating tape between the wire and the hdd and it works like new.

if the data cable gets disconnected due to vibration or thermal expansion cycles the bugcheck you tend to get will
be a KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
it can take hours after the disconnection before you get the bugcheck. it depends on how much free ram space is left.

but if it loosens so much that u cant see the hdd anywhere, what does that mean? since im not getting into the bsod itself, only the part where its going to go to the bsod, then my pc restarts

loose hard drive data cables can connect and disconnect several times a second. it can be a vibration or even thermal expansion and contraction. if the cable is disconnected completely the system will bugcheck when required task can not start. loose cables can really cause the system to thrash around and become very slow.

Loose cable got fixed, i bought a new one. Yet i used it for a few days, now my pc freezes at the "starting windows" screen. Nothing happens, even if you would wait for 20 minutes. Does this mean that my hdd broke or did some other part fail?

if you can boot, download and run crystaldiskinfo.exe to read the SMART data from the drive.
windows 7 does not do low level drive repairs you have to do them yourself. windows 8.x and 10 will locate and move data off of sectors as a drive sector goes bad.

without looking at the memory dump it is hard to tell the exact cause of the problem. even then there would be a lot of guessing involved. the debugger can check for common problems.

windows 7, you have to use a utility or do a full format of the drive (not a quick format) to get new bad sectors marked as bad.

Either the HDD was going bad or due to the loose cable it caused corruption on the NTFS partition.

Well of course, now the reason is clear. The wire's clip is so dented and stuff like that, ih doesn't go fully inside the hdd. And i will also give a tip. NEVER TRY TO GLUE THE CLIP IN WITH SUPER GLUE. IT WILL BREAK THE WIRE AND POSSIBLY EVEN THE HARD DRIVES CONNECTOR CLIP.

Aww... The reason for all this was a dying ram stick. I just realised it, sinve i got another bsod today and after that my pc wouldn't start, in case i didn't pull the stick out. Thanks for the help anyways guys ❤!
