Hello guys,

So a few of you might have already seen my other thread awhile ago. But basically I was given the Razer Leviathan sound bar as a gift and this particular speaker only has a 3.5mm jack and an optical jack. The optical cable was also provided along with the speaker.

Since my motherboard (MSI Z370 A Pro) does not have an optical output to go with the Leviathan, I decided it's time to buy a sound card. I know I could have just used the 3.5mm cable for sound, but I really want to make use of the 5.1 virtual surround sound feature offered by the Leviathan.

So after doing some research, I saw that it's important to get soundcard with DTS/DDL decoder, because not all media comes decoded already. Right?

So the question is: do you have any suggestion for the best budget 5.1 sound card (below $100 USD) that have DTS/DDL and also an optical jack for my cable to go in?

P/S: Also, would any PCIe sound card fit perfectly physically into my motherboard? As mentioned before, my mb is MSI Z370 A Pro and I'm only using 1 single GTX 1080 graphic card and a 120mm cpu cooler. Idk if any of the above would interfere at all with the sound card placement, but I just really want to make sure it would fit.

Where did you get your information that you need DTS/DDL decoding? If you had an actual 5.1 speaker system, then maybe. You actually have a 4.1 system that uses the built in Dolby simulated 5.1.

While Optical should be a cleaner sound, your leviathan will not benefit from any pre-processing.

Sorry I'm still a newbie at this.
I was going to buy the Asus Xonar DGX which somebody suggested in my other thread. Then I read some reviews and a lot of them complain they couldn't get surround sound from games and they were pointing at the lack of DTS DDL from the Xonar DGX as the cause. Refer to this thread: http://www.tomsguide.com/answers/id-3224919/cheap-sound-card-optical-cable.html

They also talked about how the Xonar DSX which has DTS (or DDL i don't remember) but then this one doesn't seem to have an optical jack to me.

Anyhow, please correct my thinking as it helps me learn something new today.
Thanks ahead!

Whatever you were reading had to do with a soundcard which was not able to output the proper 5.1 signal. This does not affect you as your Leviathan will simulate it.

Have you tried the audio input?

If so, did you not like it?
