Hi there,
I just started playing Fortnite again after having a break from the game for a couple months. (I'm quite bad.)
After coming back, I've noticed that the framerate has lowered drastically.
Before the break, I reached framerates between 160-220.
Now coming back, I haven't been able to get above 120, instead a ton of stuttering and dips that go all the way down to 30fps!
(Graphical settings are all low, excluding drawing distance, which has always been set to 'Epic' or 'High'. V-sync is off.)
I checked to see what was going on and it turns out I'm stuck with a CPU bottleneck, although I'm not sure why because this was never happening before.
I have as little programs run in the background as possible. All I have open is the game I play, along with Discord and Voicemeeter. I also close as many unwanted background programs as I can.
One thing that really confuses me is that this game ran better back when I used an Overclocked MSI 1050Ti OC Edition. Framerates were buttery smooth, and CPU ran 70% at the highest, even when streaming or recording.
Even on the few times that there was a CPU bottleneck back then, the framerate wouldn't have dipped as much as it does whenever I play it nowadays. It would only go down by about 20fps.
Temps peak at 65-70c.
A friend of mine plays games with his A8 6600k and a GTX 1050. His Fortnite client runs much smoother than mine. His CPU is not bottlenecking and has a much higher framerate (about 150fps on all low settings.)
I would love to find out what obvious things I have missed and what not-so obvious things I can do to solve this.
A Factory Reset is the last thing I want to do, but if that is the only thing that will solve this problem, I will do that.
