Support bracket for MSI Duke cards necessary?

Hi, I just received the MSI RTX 2080 Duke today and I'm in the middle of installing? Is the support bracket that comes in the package absolutely necessary or will I get away with not installing it? Anyone with experiences with Duke and the support bracket?

Will the support bracket have a positive or negative effect on air flow in my case?

Well, the card doesn't sack much. its by far not as heavy as the MSI RTX 1080 TRIO. I test installed the bracket and its not working very well. the card is still sacking a little, basically almost no difference between with and without the bracket. Also, my motherboard as stainless steel enforced PCI-E slots (steel armor). So, the whole thing is a little bit more stable anyway.
