So last night I tried to find the price of the 4th generation Intel i5 & i7 Processor (used) and the price was quite cheap, the price of the motherboard and ddr3 ram is also cheap here.

So the question is, is the 4th generation Intel still able to play modern games? at least get a medium graph setting at 1080p resolution.

* I already have GTX 1050 Ti, 500w psu & 16GB ddr3 ram from my old computer.

In short, yes, still fully capable of gaming at 1080 and (somewhat) beyond. There are quite a few good benchmarks on the older 3rd and 4th gen systems with up to a GTX1080 putting in some nice frame rates.

I am running a 2nd gen i5 2500k and I am doing fine @ 1080p 60 Hz with a GTX 970. Yes, it is a dead platform and no further upgrade path but if you just want to play at medium settings then I think it will do just fine. I suggest aiming for more cores though to stay relevant.

P.S. I even played AC Origins @ Ultra with a few settings turned down a bit.
