So, next month I'll be upgrading some hardware in my computer.

My current setup is-

6700 non-k cpu
asus strix 970 gpu
z170-a
kingston ram, 16gb (2x8gb), ddr4 - 2133mhz (i think)
samsung 500 evo, 500gb
1tb hdd
coolermaster v850 850w 80+ gold psu,

Now I've been looking to buy the msi 1080 gaming x 8g gpu.

But i also feel like i should upgrade my mobo, cpu, and cpu cooler. So I've been looking at the 8700k, msi z370 tomahawk, and nzxt kraken x62.

I'm only 16, so I won't be able to buy all of it in 1 month's pay, but i will in 2 month's pay.

So what should i upgrade first? my gpu - or cpu, mobo and aio cooling?

Price wise -

Gpu - 4500 DKK, Danish Crowns - $695
Cpu, mobo and AiO - 5500 DKK, Danish Crowns - $849

(Hardware is expensive in Denmark)

Go for the 1080. You may be able to find a good deal on a used one. It will be a night and day difference between what your 970.
You dont need to upgrade your CPU. There will be little to no performance difference between a 6700 and a 8700k. I would suggest you get a better PSU to pair with the 1080. The Corsair VS PSUs are not very good. A quality 550 watt PSU will be fine for your system.

I would go with this:

Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G2 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($56.08 @ B&H)
Total: $56.08
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

He listed the Coolermaster V series PSU not the Corsair VS

I do play Arma 3 quite a bit though, so the extra clock speed would be nice

Oops, I would have sworn I had seen an S there. Guess I am getting old. I would not replace that PSU.

As i stated hardware is very expensive in Denmark, so i prefer upgrading bit by bit, so that i don't blow all of my salary on the first day of the month on hardware..

What are your experiences with used hardware though? I have a bit of ocd that always makes me buy things from brand new...

I have had good experiences with used hardware. I am sure you will find people here that have had plenty of bad experiences. But, buying used or refurbished hardware has allowed me to purchase hardware I otherwise would not have been able to afford.

If you are buying something used, use your head. Only buy from sellers who have good ratings on sites like ebay. And most importantly, if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
