I've been wanting to upgrade my old Lynnfield rig for a loong time.

I'm offered the following for the total price of 477€.

i3 8350k second hand
Geil EVO X DDR4 3200 PC4-25600 16GB 2x8GB CL16 (second hand)
EVGA pack consisting on the following:
CLC 240 Cooler
EVGA z370FTW motherboard
550 G3 PSU (Gold efficiency).

Everything else ill buy separately or use parts I already have, primarly my 280x (which will upgrade further donw the line to 1060 6gb, 1070, 1080)

My aim is to play on 1080 resolution, and do housework with the pc, no editing no broadcasting no nothing.

Would you buy or go for the Ryzen 2600, b450 board and ram for more or less the same price? (worse cooler and no PSU).

With my current option I have the chance to go for 9th gen to use the full power of my ram too.

I don't know what to do!

Thanks for your time.

yes, many games can not utilize more than 4 cores but more and more AAA titles can saturate 4 cores easily, not to mention windows 10 will consume quite a bit too.

You Should get the Ryzen 2600, It will last you longer by having 6 cores and 12 Threads, and while the i3 8350k is slightly better for most games, its not by a margin you will really notice in game, But also with the Ryzen you get the Advantage of better Multitasking and more Future Proof with Demanding Programs or Upcoming Games.

Also the Ryzen 2600 comes with a Cooler so you don't need to buy one, and use that money for other components.

Yes I know it includes the cooler. From what I read games don't make use of the extra processors and in single core performance the intel is far superior.
