Hi guys, as above I am updating my ram - going from 16GB DDR4 at 2400mhz (G.SKILL F4-2400C15D-16GTZR ) up to 16GB DDR4 3200hz (Corsair CMW16GX4M2C3200C16W).

I built my system in December 2017 and that was the last time the BIOS on my mobo (ASUS Prime X370-PRO) was updated. I know a number of versions of the BIOS have been released since then, but my understanding when it comes to BIOS updates is that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", so I haven't touched it since building it.

Clearly a BIOS update means a morning of downloading new drivers and reboots so clearly if I can just 'plug and play' my new RAM that would be great... welcome any advice.

Solution
BIOS update may improve ram compatibility.
Upgrade ram first, then check, if everything is working properly.
If issues are encountered, consider updating BIOS also.

Thanks - I guess there is a difference between it working at all, and working at max capability? I mean I can easily run a few benchmarks before and after to see the difference but I will need to brush up on my BIOS & RAM timing knowledge I guess to get the most out of the upgrade... If it isnt working at all then clearly something will be wrong!
