So ive got the 9900k on pre order and i want to watercool and push the overclocks for daily use. The safe 1.4v core most likely.

I can get a z370 maximus x formula for nearly $150 cheaper than the z390 formula.

Does anyone know the VRM difference and if it will matter for the 9900k?

What about that single 8pin EPS vs the dual?

I was in the same situation you are in. I pre-ordered the 9900k and then was torn between the z370 and z390 boards. I read a review though that said that if you purchase a z370 board and it does not have the latest bios, that without a cpu you wouldn't be able to update the bios...so you would have to borrow somebody's i7-8700 or so just to update the bios and then plunk in your i9. so i ended up buying the Maximus Formula z390.
