Hello, last night I installed a i5 3470 on a Gigabyte GA-H77 with Corsair Vengeance in place of a AMD fx8320 on a Gigabyte GA-78LMT with some unknown RAM, I thought I had everything setup right the first time, all the LEDS powered up, it launched BiOS, I already had my USB cables, AUX, Ethernet, HDMI, & DVI in, then BiOS stopped, then started... then a full black screen with nothing but an underscore, not even blinking, just sitting there. My pc shut off and since there hasn't been any power going to it it seems. I messed with a lot of little things with the hardware, but still, feel free to suggest even the smallest of ideas! I noticed when I plug my power cord into a surge protector, with other active things plugged into it, a red light turns off, I've tried plugging it into multiple outlets, flipped the I / O switches, changed the watt switch everytime I did anything to the hardware to make sure, and still LEDs don't light up, fans don't spin, no noise, and nothing happens to the monitor, please suggest anything y'all would think? Personally I'm gonna have a professional check my wiring, and maybe try a new PSU in case of it not being enough watts? I'm sure it's 500 or 600, but still will do so.

Specs-

CPU: AMD fx8320 (now i5 3470)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H60
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-78LMT (now GA-H77)
GPU: MSI GTX 1060 6GB
RAM: Unknown 8GB (now Corsair Vengeance 8GB)
PSU: Corsair 500/600watt (I'll check in the morning)

First thing to do is simplify the system to make troubleshooting easier. Remove all the peripherals. The system should boot with just CPU, RAM(1 stick), MOBO, and PSU. Some systems will even boot with just the mobo and PSU for diagnostic purposes but that is pretty rare. If it doesn't boot try the other stick of ram. If it still doesn't boot try a different PSU. (your old PSU should work for just trouble shooting. If you can get your hands on a PSU tester, use that on the PSU first.

At first blush is sounds like the PSU or MOBO is bad. It happens. RMA or return it.

I got it all fixed, sorry for my late responses, it was a CMOS battery, and my old ram was some unknown brand, when I got the GA-h77 I also got Corsair Vengeance with it, all for $100 and it all works and has more fps, and feels a lot smoother, thank you for the responses!
