Hi everyone. I’m wondering, it there any chance to get info from water damaged hard drive that I already extract from my computer. Tried to plug it in another commuter but it considered as “unreadable “.
That would have to go to a professional data recovery service IMO. Only the new helium filled drives are air tight. So water most likely got into the platters and heads.
Mechanical or solid state drive? On the mechanical drives it is possible to replace the controller. If the drive was water damaged, I think it's much more likely the controller would short out before any actually got inside to the platters.
In all likelihood, you're probably screwed. And a professional recovery service will cost more than your data is probably worth.
Good idea for the future is do backup.
