Hi i want to connect two monitors to my PC. My on-board hdmi port is not working and I figured i need to enable it in bios under chipset. I cannot find this option anywhere. All i see is 'sata mode' 'IOMMU' and 'Chipset Sata Port Enable. I've tried the other tabs and also cant find integrated graphics anywhere or any display options. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-AB350M-Gaming 3

Yes, HDMI or anything else. (Display Ports, DVI, or VGA). The second monitor needs to be plugged in directly to the Graphics Output (so motherboard for APUs (integrate graphics) and directly to graphic cards for builds with dedicated GPUs).

In this case you have an APU so it needs to be plugged in the Motherboard. It won't work if u connect it to your other monitor.

On the motherboard there is also a DVI port. If i connect the second monitor via DVI instead of trying to use the HDMI on-board will I still get the same issue or will my second monitor work? My first monitor is connected via hdmi from the GPU. Bear in mind that there is no option for integrated graphics in my BIOS

Oh ok, so you have a GPU.

Well you can't connect one to the GPU and the other to the APU as your computer is only using 1 at a time. That's why some monitors have 2 HDMI outputs so they can switch at will without having to unplug and replug anything in.

Both monitors need to be separately connected to your GPU.

That motherboard has no iGPU just the ports. For the ports to work you need an APU(CPU with an iGPU) if you just have a CPU then thew ports on the board are useless. Hence why I asked "what CPU are you using".

This is correct. If you don't have an APU, you can't connect it to your motherboard. It doesn't work. Needs to be connected directly to the GPU.

Ok brilliant. One more question, the second monitor i have doesn't have a DVI port however it has a VGA port. Could I use a cable that on one end has DVI (going into the gpu) and the other end VGA (going into the monitor) I see argos are selling one for £17 but wanna make sure it will work.

Yeah that's not a problem. I have a HDMI---HDMI cable for my second monitor, but since my GPU only has 1 HDMI for my main connector, I used a HDMI>DVI converter to plug it in my GPU.
