Hey guys and gals, i have a gaming pc that is in the shed at bottom of the garden which is around 16 meters away from the router. The signal goes through 3 walls and i am looking for a fast reliable wireless card or dongle that would boost my internet signal any ideas of what would be suitable? I currently have a netgear a1200 wireless dongle, and at the most i get is 4.5 meg which is intermittant, but the majority of the time im only getting 300 kbs

Not sure what to suggest the one you have is pretty advanced. Unlike many you find it runs on a USB cable to get it away from the computer. The power output is not bad compared to some other units.

Device can only put out so much radio power legally. Walls absorb that radio signal. There really is no way to solve that other than find a way to get rid of the walls. A common way when you are in a remote building is to use outdoor wifi bridges from companies like ubiquiti or engenius. You use a ethernet cable to take them outside on each building. Not sure if that would be a valid option or not for you.

If both are on the same power meter you might consider powerline networks like av2-600 or av2-1200 units. In your case be sure to buy from a company that takes returns since yours is not a common application.
