Old and new Graphics card not working together

Hello, I was just recently gifted a 9600 GT as I was wanting to use it as a display card but when I put it into my main pc* it just wouldn't work, the card, however, will work by itself but will not work alongside with my 980Ti which is frustrating, I've tried installing different drivers but nothing has worked. Thank you for all your answers!!

They wont work together unless you set one as a physics card, which is pointless in 2018. SLI requires 2 of the same card. What did you expect or think was going to happen?

Im not sure why it wont work. But my question is why you want to do this in the first place? What do you think it's going to do for you? All it will do is cause your PC to pull more power.

nvidia drivers stopped supporting the older cards so maybe you can run it off of windows drivers(go to device manager uninstall card). you might have to look up how to keep card from checking for new drivers. tbh just look at other multi display options and use this as a coaster.
