PC running Windows 10 freezes after running no problem for about 10-15 minutes.

Specs are:
Motherboard: ASUS Z97-AR
CPU: Intel i5
RAM: HyperX FUR 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3
GPU: GeForce GTX 1050

The issue started after I did disconnected the PSU from the MOBO to test out if another MOBO I have was operational. It was not.
I made the mistake of connecting the PSU back to the system while it was powered ON, but didn't think much of it.
On start up the PC froze, and ever since it's been freezing after around 15 mins of runtime.

Here's what I've tried so far:
- Format HDD and Reinstalled Windows 10 from scratch
- Bought an SSD and installed Windows 10 on it as well
- Turned on the PC with only one stick of RAM ( did this for both sticks in slot 1 )

A thing to note is that every time this happens I have to hold the power button to shut it down, and on reboot it always displays a screen that says that I MUST go to BIOS to recover the settings. Every single time.

I know I fucked up by plugging the PSU back to the system while it had power so I politely ask to not be berated by that, I'm in desperate need of solutions or ways in which to figure out what is exactly wrong so I can fix it.

Thanks

Yeah, your PSU is probably done for. I'd imagine doing that messed up its cooling system, so, after some time passes, it overheats. If it's booting temporarily, though, that means your other components are fine, so that's at least one positive. Anyway, you'll be needing a new unit.

Man how does that work? Asking honestly for future reference so I never do it again. I got a second PSU in hand so I'll try and swap them out and see how that works.
If it doesn't what else do you suggest?

So I plugged in another PSU ad the system is running fine.
Guess I had to learn the hard way to always double check the PSU is off and disconnect the source cable in the back....
