Something sparked up on my motherboard

When i turned on my pc there was a pretty large spark coming from near the atx plug and the ram slots. But my motherboard was still on until i plugged in my graphics card the lights started to stutter. Im wondering what sparked up?

some people should let competent people upgrade their computers...

if your pc was on while you slapping a gpu in your case, you will cause a short (spark you saw) and likely a few things have gone dead now..

if you turned off your psu, you did not disconnect power, when you say motherboard was lit do you mean it was ON or the leds where on ?

I would recommend starting over the stop and clarifying what was going on, because from the description, I also thought you were trying to install a GPU with the PC turned on. Being clear is extremely important because none of us are physically at your PC, so you have to be our eyes and ears. A full spec list is also helpful so that we don't have to continually ask questions about your components as we get through this thread.
