I have a dell Latitude eE6220 with an intel core i5 8gb ram and i was wondering if I could connect an external graphics card like a Nvidia 1060 for Solidworks.

Solution
idk but eGPUs can only be connected thru thunderbolt ports MAKE SURE IT IS RUNNING AT THUNDERBOLT SPEEDS. this is important as thunderbolt speeds at 40gbit/s while thunderbolt ports can also run at usb 3.1 gen 1 or 2 speeds which are 5gbit/s and 10gbit/s respectively.

Note: performance per dollar is horrible on eGPUs i would not recommend as they lag behind because eGPUs use 4 pcie lanes rather than 16 the performance drop is not 1/4 it is more like 1/2 however i would not recommend a 1060 if you intend to play games on ultra at 60fps realisticly it is almost cheaper to just sell the old laptop and get a new one.
