Hello, I need to add a serial port and I don't have 10 pin IDC in my motherboard, USB to RS232 is not working properly so its not an option here. Will VGA to DB9 cable work?

Something similar to this for example: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/CAA-New-1-3M-51-Light-Gray-1-3m-VGA-Hd15-Male-to-Db9-Pin-Male/32710709557.html? then connect the RS232 cable. Will this work? If not, why not? Any other alternatives? I'll say again, I don't have 10 pin IDC in my motherboard(Gigabyte GA-B75M-D2V), and USB to RS232 is not an option. Thanks.

I had several usb to serial adapters until I found a good one. Absolutely need a usb to serial FTDI, earlier cheap ones always died with a new windows, xp one died when plugged to a vista, vista one died when plugged into a 7, skipped 8, and windows 10 killed the one that worked in 7. There were a bunch of bootleg chips that kept getting fried in a new OS, This FTDI one has worked in everything so far.
