Hi. I disconnected the ethernet cable from my router for a few minutes to temporarily kill internet access, but when I reconnected it I had no network or internet. The network now shows up as "unidentified" and the troubleshooter says "Ethernet does not have a valid IP configuration".

I've checked all the network/adapter settings and can't see anything wrong. I tried a new cable in case that was the problem but that didn't resolve it. I'd read somewhere that the n/w adapter on the motherboard might have become faulty, so I've put in a new pci ethernet adapter. That's showing exactly the same problem - unidentified and no valid IP. I've tried a fixed ip too with no luck. I've rebooted both PC and the router several times while trying to sort this out.

I've done everything I can think of but with no luck. Can anyone suggest anything? Thanks

Windows 10
Plusnet router/hub
Startech ST100S ethernet card

ps: I can connect ok using a usb wi-fi adapter ( I just prefer to use ethernet).

I've borrowed someone's spare router and that works ok so it looks like my router has developed a fault - maybe in the lan port when I unplugged the cable?
