My HD 5770 idles at 54c and when i game it gets to 80c should i replace the thermal compound or should i just leave it, and or should i just tear it down and give it a very deep clean.

Solution
You can actually tear down the card and give the cooling assembly a good wash. Make sure every part of the cooler is dry. To be sure you can have the cooler disassembled and drying overnight.

Might I ask what sort of games you tax the card with and it's corresponding details and in-game settings? You will also need to pass on your ambient room temps.

While you're disassembled, you can remove the pre-applied factory TIM(or what have you) and replace it with some quality thermal interface material. Be careful not to shave off the thermal tapes unless you have the exact same tapes(thickness and heat conductivity).
