Hi

I replaced my old 1 tb hdd (used to be boot drive before adding SSD SATA) with a 2tb WD Black. Seems simple enough.....wrong

1st disk management wouldn’t recognize the hdd as valid until I changed it to MB’s (data drive now) and give it a drive letter. For some reason D wasn’t available as before. No problem it works great.

Then I go into Intel’s RST to set up for the new drive. RST comes up showing my SSD and ITSELF as data to be managed. My 2tb hdd is nowhere to be found.

I tried different settings in RST and many reboots, but nothing changed.

How do I get RST to see my 2tb hdd and get rid of seeing itself as another drive?

Thanks

Michael

What sort of settings did you try? Are you on the latest BIOS update for your prebuilt system? If you're dealing with a blank 2TB drive, you may want ti uninstall Intel's RST and using Disk Manager, see if you can create a partition(s). You might also need to take help from EaseUS in case Disk Manager fails. On another note, have you seen via Disk Part in CMD(elevated command) to see if the drive is shown there?

Hi Lutfig,

All my bios and device drivers are current. The new 2 tb hdd shows up in disk manager as MBR formatted with ntfs. There’s no data on it I tried uninstalling RST and Optane without any results. RST attaches itself to my small SSD SATA drive that I have Windows on it.

As I said before, all I did was to swap out the 1tb drive to the 2tb one. I did have to assign a new drive letter and set itvtivmbr but that’s it in disk management or AMOEI Partition.

RRST will only associate itself with the SSD, there is no other choice. I’d rather have it on the hdd, but it only is seen on the right drive graphic on the status page. It has a check mark next to it. (Just like my SSD and optane) but nothing I tried allowed me to select the 2tb hdd and deselect the SSD.
