I have a desktop with an Asus z370g wifi mb that cannot receive the wifi signal from my living room. I have an Asus rog laptop, alienware laptop, iPhone and Samsung s8 that all can receive and connect to the wifi. I have updated the bios and wifi driver with no improvement. The only way I connect is if I move the desktop 10-15 feet away. What am I doing wrong how can it have such garbage range?

WiFi is just radio. You didn't say anything about the distance or obstructions in the above post. You can also get reflections and blind spots with radio. So there is no easy answer to your question. Keep in mind that your neighbors' WiFi can also affect your WiFi - radio signals don't care which signal belongs to whom.

The issue isn't obstructions or distance, 2 other laptops and 2 phones can connect to the wifi without problems in the exact same spot. Closest neighbor is over 1km away so no other networks. It's an issue with my wifi adapter.

Hi Zubati,

If you have phones and laptops that connect to the WiFi fine in that same location as the desktop then the wifi adapter's reception antennas are not functioning properly. It's just a bad adapter. If it's a gaming desktop, you might want to consider Powerline Adapters. Here's a set that would work well for you: https://amzn.to/2COMnja or a cheaper option would be: https://amzn.to/2ykYKzk

If you're not familiar with how they work, you plug one into an electrical outlet near your router and the other one into an outlet near the desktop and then they connect via Ethernet to your router and your PC. It's more stable and faster than WiFi in most cases.
