So I am planning on upgrading to 16gb of RAM soon, from 2x4gb DDR4 (3000mhz) to probably 2x8GB (DDR4)

What I want to know is if I can change RAM company and speed all together, for instance upping speed to 3200mhz and using another brand?

Would this cause issues?

thanks :D

I would say to check with your motherboard manufacturer about the RAM compatibility. Generally they keep a list of compatible stuff but they don't always update it.

I've had trouble going above 3200mhz on Ryzen. On a 1700 i was able to get 3333mhz after a bios update for my asus crosshair vi. After i swapped the CPU for a 2700x on the same board/ same ram, i was only able to do 3200mhz.

I would say, get whatever RAM you want as long as it's capable of 3200mhz. If you get a 3600 kit you might be able to tighten the timings when you run it at 3200mhz.

Personally, G.Skill is my favorite RAM brand. I've had issues with Corsair in the past.
