Earlier today, Frontier had installed a new router that with a new router since we updated our plan. Our router should be able to operate on 5ghz Wi-Fi as well as 2.4ghz.

For some reason, when I try to search for this network on my Samsung Galaxy S9+ or my Sager Laptop, nothing comes up. The same goes for everyone else in the house, who all have Iphone 5's or higher.

The router we have is an Arris NVG468MQ (Or is it a modem? I'm sorry, I've no idea the difference between a router or modem despite my googling.)

My Network Adapter for my laptop is a Killer Wireless-N 1202.

ISP is Frontier. There are usually 6 or 7 devices connected. 2 or 3 are laptops and the rest are phones. All of this on a wireless connection.

The gateway claims that it's up and running. One issue I read about is how the SSID's having the same name can cause issues. In this case, both 2.4ghz and 5ghz connections have the same SSID of "Frontier****" (The "*" are numbers and I have no idea if the numbers are private information or anything, just know they are both the same). If this is the root of my problems, well I don't see an option to change the name of 5ghz SSID.

So yeah, that's everything I've been dealing with for the past 5 hours. I'm hoping someone can help because the 2.4ghz network is so trash I can't even comprehend it. It sucks to pay extra per month only for a worse connection. If there is anymore information that I missed and can include that would help you guys in helping me, please tell me! Thanks in advance!

You could reset the router and the configure both 2.4 & 5GHz .
After resetting it, you could access the web interface by typing the IP address on the device label.
You could personalize it with your own settings, such as Wi-Fi name and password.
You will be asked to provide the "Device Access Code" which is located on a label on the bottom of the Router.

I already said that I tried to change the name of the SSID, but nothing showed up prompting me to do so. This is all I get in the wireless tab https://gyazo.com/4444d25d58474a06b67bae7127a8685d

That shows a summary of the available WiFi radios.
On the main page it shows which radios are enabled and their encryption type.
You might not be able to change the SSID if locked, unless you reset the router.
You could go the the wireless section and check the SSID Availability ...there you will see if a clit can assess it.

I reset my router but I still don't see an option to change the SSID. I can change the 2.4ghz name but the 5ghz option still doesn't appear. Also, the SSID Availability for both networks says "UP".

You might need to contact the ISP, it could be a faulty or partially locked device and that's why you cannot make changes.
Both bands are very important . The 5GHz band is very useful for short distance and faster connection and the 2.4 GHz for farther distances even though it might perform at lower speeds.
I had a similar issue with Verizon when the 5GHz was dropping constantly and it was a faulty router.
