Don't know if this is the right catergory but it's storage so I guess I'm not too off if wrong.
Basically I went from consistently having 30 GB free on my 120 GB SSD (110 GB useful) to it dropping to 7, then going to 10 when I thought that was wrong, then going to 9 when I uninstalled a couple GB of programs I don't use anymore, then down to 8 when I restarted my pc, then back to 10 GB again.
I make sure I install everything to the 2 TB hard drive unless the program I install for whatever reason needs something on the C drive, like visual studio. All my libraries are on the D drive as well. At first I thought I was dumb and didn't install assassin's creed in the right place but it's definitely in the D drive.
The virus scan hasn't found anything. I know temp files might be causing the space to fluctuate a little bit but this just seems off.
I've checked the drive using speedfan and the fitness is 97% and performance is 100% with nothing showing errors.
I found a folder taking 10GB which was packages (file path being users/appdata/local/packages) but I don't want to delete anything in case it causes the SSD to die because I can't afford a new one for months and I really need my PC.
Even now, the file explorer says 10.3 GB free of 110, but when I check the properties it says 8.58 GB free. I know uninstalling programs won't give you all your disk space back, but this seems ridiculous.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on?
