Hello. I have a decent gaming desktop with a thick PSU filter. It has 1.5 inch tall feet, which deliver plenty of air flow to the psu. I was wondering if I can put my desktop on the carpet without anything bad happening. Thanks!

You do not list the model of your case, but I assume that only the PSU is sucking air from the bottom of the case. From an air-movement point of view, tall feet on the case like you have will allow enough airflow.
Note, though, that some polyester carpets generate excessive static electricity. If your case is metal, you should be fine when the case is closed, but I would avoid handling static-sensitive components (like RAM, or the CPU), while my feet were on such a carpet.

I went down to the home improvement store and looked for a basic wood shelf (not the whole bookcase, just the shelf). I put that on the carpet, and then put my pc on that so it has a hard surface. You should be able to find a shelf (or similar wood thing) that matches the size of the pc footprint (12"x2" or thereabouts). With pre-stained or painted wood, you can even match the color of your carpet so it doesnt stick out too badly visually.

I use a sheet of stiff plastic cut to the shape of the case (You buy a roll from hardware or craft stores) and stick it on that. I just make sure the case fan filters are regularly cleaned and mine is fine. Almost no dust inside the PC. But I suppose it could differ from case to case - some don't even have built in filters.
