What is a good set of speakers for your system and does the sound card matter?

I'm looking to build or buy a prebuild system for about $500-$600 but really want a good set of speakers to go with it. Should I look into getting studio active speakers? My budget is $100-$120 for speakers. Something like this here http://

And does it matter if it's a integrated board sound card in terms for getting decent quality audio?

Those are the ones I've been considering after talking to some audiophile friends and reading reviews of them. They're supposed to be solid desktop speakers without blowing the budget. Another option would these guys from Mackie. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KQB07A0/ref=sspa_dk_detail_10?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B01KQB07A0
I avoided them simply because I hate the color, but they've gotten rave...

I use Creative GigaWorks T40 Series II which are around the USD $100 mark. These days audio quality from Motherboards is of high enough quality that Sound Cards are somewhat redundant unless you mix sounds, depending on your motherboard.
Spent alot of money on my setup below and use these speakers after doing a fair bit of research.

Needed to add, you need to decide what setup you want. I assume you were after desktop speakers but if you want Base then perhaps 2.1 or 5.1 if you have the space..... For desktop 2.0 speakers though im very happy with these....

As for integrated sound vs 3rd part sound, unless you're going deep in to higher grade headphones, they probably aren't worth it. If you do decide to jump in to the audio pool and upgrade, I'd suggest looking in to external dac/amp setups. Schiit makes a very good lineup of combo units that start at reasonable prices (like this one http://www.schiit.com/products/fulla-1) before hitting standard audiophile lunacy.

I do like the look of the Mackie lol..but they don't have a bass volume control? Anyways I do prefer to go with a "non" pc speaker system and rather lean over to the affordable audiophile side. I'll stick with the onboard sound card I'm not a music producer.

I found these also within $100 mark http://
