[SOLVED] GTX 1060 6GB issues with HDR enabled on 4K TV

We have recently upgraded our living room display to a 70" Vizio e70-e3 4K 60 hz unit. At first all was well with the switch up to 2160P, until I tried enabling HDR in Win10.. With HDR enabled my GPU power, core and memory clocks all spike together from 2D to max 3D over and over and over, at idle with nothing going on, shut off HDR and all goes back to normal resting 2D power. Also with HDR enabled full screen applications will only scale properly to full screen size when launched in 1080p or 2160p. This is problematic because the 1060 is by no means a 4K card but certainly does hold it's own in 1440p and I prefer that over 1080P, but 1440p won't scale to full screen or anywhere near it, turn HDR off and everything works like a charm.. I have tried the 4 most recent WHQL drivers with DDU un-install and clean install, same results with both issues and all drivers. So far this is seeming more like a windows issue on both fronts and not so much the GPU or the drivers, what think ye ??

Solution
might be your tv. i don't know much about your exact model but many vizio's need to use hdmi port 1, and have the tv settings in hdmi chroma subsampling mode (or on some models 'Full UHD Color') and should be in 'computer mode'. good luck
