Greetings fellow masters of hardware and software alike of the glorious PC System.I have the need for your light on my overclocking settings.First of all.
GPU:GTX 1050TI Palit stormx no Power pin for power.

I used msi afterburner and below is a screenshot of my settings and also power limit and temp limit.
Screen 1:https://imgur.com/Xp3k40D
Screen 2(Power and temp):https://imgur.com/a/1jQtWhB

I know its an extreme overclock for a pinless 1050ti.But i started overclocking by adding 25 mhz each time to the core and 100mhz to memory and running tests with heavy games or pretty well optimized games in order to see if the overclock was stable when a game draws all the juice out of it.Anything over 220mhz was unstable on core so i decreased by 20mhz to be sure. Also the memory is stable than ever.So far ive seen 12% more performance. In witcher 3 after 30 minutes i saw an fps increase from 67 to 75(I use low settings) and 72 degrees celcius stable maximum temp. Also the clock during the witcher 3 gameplay is at 1775mhz and 4500mhz on memory.Question number one:Is this overclock overall good for this little card? Question number two:I didnt raise any voltage or temp limit everything except core and memory is left untouched. Is there any danger of the card overdrawing power from mobo and frying it? Question number three:Is 72 degrees maximum peak temperature good for 1 fan card with such an overclock?I have 25 degrees ambient.Final question:Can this overclock brick or damage heavily this card even though no voltage is changed and the temperature is well within limits?

Solution
I just ran Heaven benchmark at 1440p, DX11, Quality: Ultra, Anti-aliasing 8x. My video card bounced between 52 and 54 degrees maximum temperature.

I purchased My GPU, an MSI GTX 980 Ti Lightning LE overclocked, three years ago and it continues to run strong. That card has good cooling and utilizes two 8 pin power connectors and one 6 pin, three in total. And, I use the power curve that I posted above.

Heat kills.

Keep your settings if you feel comfortable with your temperatures and expect your GPU to last for several years at your current settings and temperatures.

1. 13% is very good increase in performance; so yes it is a good overclock.
2. Only certain high-end Nvidia cards allow voltage increase; so I do not believe there is any danger in overdrawing power.
3. 72C is good for 1 fan with an overclock.

It's possible that after some time of running a steep overclock like that, you will begin to see some instability; resulting in having to dial back the overclock some. +1000 on memory seems a bit crazy, but not unheard of. I'd probably dial it back some to around 750. Typically you'll want to run several different benchmarks (Unigine Heaven, Firestrike) and several different games you play to check for stability.

So ill run heaven benchmark for about 30 minutes to check stress temp and also if its stable any sign of artifacts or crashes etc.If it proves stable i should be fine i believe. Is it possible for an overclock to damage a card permanently even though the temperature is fine and voltage is untouched?

It's not likely to do great amount of damage. It works like this; you run a high overlcock and over time it might crash. You reboot it and it might work at the same overlcock, it might not. But over time it would continue to crash. You dial it back, and it will work better with less or no crashing.

I usually run Unigine one time through, maybe two. When I was OC'ing my old GTX 970 I would get the max OC and test on Unigine Heaven; but then when I ran GTAV it would artifact. Artifacting is when colored squared and shapes appear on the screen. It means you've gone too far and need to dial it back. So, test across multiple games and benchmarks.

These are my results after 30minutes of running it on extreme settings at 1920x1080 with the oc settings. No artifacts or crashes occured.

Also im kind of afraid to use a custom fan curve cause thats how i nearly damaged my previous 7850.I like how palit has the fan working and im pretty satisfied with it.With this overclock it hasnt surpassed 70 degrees celcius.I might consider a fancurve when i see the temp reaching 80 degrees celcius or more.

Also one last question. Is it possible to have afterburner apply the overclock at boot up without having to open it every time? I mean is it possible to have the oc profile without having afterburner open in taskbar?

kostas1127,

You can keep Afterburner running. If you open it for any reason, minimize it by clicking on the - [minus] key in the upper right of the window. If you click on the X it will shut the program down. Go into settings and put a check mark in the box to have the program to start when you turn your computer on.
