Hi everyone. I've owned a gtx 1060 6gb for nearly a year now and ever since I got it I've always endured fps stutter/lag in games despite my graphics card being capable of handling most games a 60fps. I previously owned a i5 7500 and replaced that for an i5 8600 which helped reduce the lag but it is still there when I play battlefield. I even upgraded my ram to 16gb and still nothing.

I even bought a g-sync monitor thinking g sync would solve the frame stutter and guess what? It still lags!!!

I've exhausted everything I can think off. I just don't know what to do. Is it just battlefield 1? Could it be because I'm using HDD over SSD. Could it be my graphics card?! Could it even be my internet as I have very poor internet at my house? And don't say put it to maximum power performance or something because I have tried all the conventional means.

please could anyone help me?

Specs:
Gigabyte gtx 1060 6gb
16GB DDR4 ram 2133
i5 8600 4.3GHZ
120GB SD + 2TB HHD
AsusRock Z370
550W power supply
Monitor - XB241H 144HRZ G-sync
Windows 10

P.s I mainly play battlefield 1, Just cause 3, Far cry 5 etc... (I put games at Ultra 1080p because the 1060 is capable of that and my games are installed on the hard drive)

My first feeling on this is that there is an app or a service causing this.

I would be in Resource Monitor trying to find an app that is clogging up the works (as in...excessively using your system resources)

I assume you have the latest NVidia driver...correct?

Agreed. I don't know where this BS comes from, I guess it gets repeated so everyone starts to believe it. My WD 4TB 5400rpm drive is 50% faster than my 1TB 7200rpm drive. It's not the rpm that matters by sector density etc.

Yeah.I mean they easily say..."Go buy some new stuff" without even knowing the financial situation of the OP.The rpm of an HDD usually matters on loading times rather the game itself (unless its an open world game).

how do I go about doing this? and what should I be looking for?

You right click on the drive you want check, open "properties", then "tools". One of the options is to defrag and another is to check for faults, click the "check now" and see if it finds any faults.

Yes my games are installed on the 2 TD HHD. It's a Seagate Barracuda 2TB ST200DM006 64MB cache. Is this bad? could this be causing stuttering. How do I find out if it is?

Unfortunately my SSD is only 120GB and is mainly taken up by windows operating system so I would have to buy another SSD to test wether or not that is the issue for Bf1 and I'm kinda sick of buying stuff. It is worth noting that when I installed the Battlefield 5 beta on my SSD it performed flawlessly with ultra settings and no stuttering at all. However that was only the beta and the game could change significantly at launch. I was maybe thinking that it could just be BF1 and that it's actually something wrong the game? I'm hoping when Bf5 comes out it might have eliminated the stuttering issue I'm having. Thanks, Hunter

How do I upload images as I have taken some snapshots of my usage whilst playing Bf1 and I think there is something wrong but I'm not educated enough to spot it.

I either upload to photobucket then link them here, or to twitter/facebook then link them here.
