I have an MSI aegis 3 with a gtx 1050Ti and i5 7400 , i want to upgrade to 1080/2070 but the PSU is only 450W... can i buy a 650/750W PSU for my pc?

Solution
Here is a handy chart for sizing a power supply.

RTX2070 numbers are not there yet but 650w should be fine.

I have no problem overprovisioning a PSU a bit. Say 20%.
It will allow for a stronger future graphics card upgrade.
It will run cooler, quieter, and more efficiently in the middle third of it's range.
A PSU will only use the wattage demanded of it, regardless of it's max capability.

And... buy only a good quality psu.

Yes. And you will probably need to do so.

Use a couple of online calculators to tally up the wattage requirements of your system. Add 40% for some extra margin.

And double check the physical dimensions of the unit itself. Be sure that will does indeed fit in the place of your existing 450 Watt PSU.
